Identity Theft – Are You Asking For It?
You hear so much about people becoming victims of identity theft. Did you know that in the case of 65 percent of people, this happens because they are too busy to be careful? First of all, since you are aware that such fraud exists, let’s check on whether you are prepared for it.
Answer the following questions with “Yes” or “No.”
1. Do you receive your credit card/ bank statement by snail mail?
2. Do you keep your ATM, debit and/ or credit card PIN number along with the cards?
3. Do you dispose of your ATM/ Credit Card slips in your dustbin at home?
4. Do you carry your personal information in your wallet/ purse?
5. Do you check and re-check any website that requires you to give your credit card number?
6. Do you know what to look for to assure yourself that the web page you are using is secure?
If you answered Yes to 3 or more questions you are excellent material for identity theft. Think about it.
